Coastal Craftsman Modern - Pacific Grove
In Pacific Grove, owners Paul and Dominique embarked on a journey to elevate their well-built family home into a bespoke luxury coastal residence. Guided by the visionary design of Sam Pitnick Architect, the home now boasts soaring vaulted ceilings and refined stone accents. The exterior was dramatically enhanced with a stunning ocean-view elevated deck and a captivating outdoor fire pit, creating an exceptional environment for relaxation and entertainment. Bringing their signature expertise and dedicated personnel to the project, Jeremy High and HIGHCO Builders meticulously executed the architectural plans. Complementing the architectural vision, the interior design team led by Sarah Boyle curated exquisite finishes and details, ensuring a cohesive and luxurious ambiance throughout the home.

Spanish Revival Cottage - Carmel-by-the-Sea
This charming Spanish Revival cottage nestled in Carmel-by-the-Sea underwent a thoughtful transformation blending historic character with modern comforts. Designed by Lori Bliss of Bliss Interiors, the project included major renovations and tasteful additions to the bathrooms, enhancing both function and style.
Throughout the home, classic Spanish details were preserved and highlighted — from textured plaster walls to wrought-iron fixtures — creating a warm and inviting retreat that honors its heritage while embracing contemporary living.

Cottage Bungalow Restoration - Monterey
Perched just above historic Hanoi Row, the Monterey Cottage Bungalow is a home with soul — built in the 1920s during the pre-Depression era, most likely by or for one of the engineers working down on Cannery Row. Originally purchased by Chris and Tim, the home was used as a rental, but their long-term dream was always to restore it to its original charm and preserve the unique history woven into its walls. The property even carried ties to a well-known artist, making it not just a renovation, but a revival of a local story.
The house had original redwood framing and was filled with details from another era — but also challenges, especially in its foundation, which needed major attention. Our team was able to carefully preserve and match the original siding, using a thoughtful blend of redwood, cedar, and engineered materials to reinforce the home while honoring its century-old character.
To help bring that vision to life, local architect Sam Pitnick, known for his work across the Central Coast, was brought in to design a subtle but transformative addition connecting the house to the garage. His design allowed for a pass-through backyard concept, featuring large barn doors and custom exterior doors that open into a lush patio of paver stones, fire pits, and garden space — blending old Monterey charm with modern indoor-outdoor living.
Inside, we restored the original hardwood floors and brought in a talented group of local artisans to complete the work. Lugo Plastering delivered expert plaster finishes throughout the home, Medina crafted beautiful granite surfaces, and John Shoemake woodworking that elevated every corner of the space.
One of the most personal touches in the home is in the primary bathroom, where Kris envisioned a custom makeup niche to display her favorite items. During demolition, the team at HIGHCO Builders discovered an old telephone cubby — a small built-in from the original floor plan. Inspired by its proportions and woodwork details, our builders used modern tools to precisely recreate the character of the original niche, integrating elements from the kitchen design to make it feel both cohesive and meaningful. The result is a built-in piece that feels like it’s always been there, telling the story of the home while serving a beautiful, functional purpose.
This project was a true labor of love — a collaboration between homeowners, designer, builders, and artisans — all committed to honoring the past while designing for the future.

Modernist Coastal Residence - Pebble Beach
A Pebble Beach spec home development undertaken by an investments, design and construction team comprising Conrad Asturi Studios, Asturi Construction, and a Limited Partnership of Investors. HIGHCO Builders was engaged by the lead team to execute the core construction phase from beginning to end. The exceptional quality and design of the Cortez Road property culminated in a swift sale to a prominent executive.

Contemporary Estate Residence
Set against the dramatic backdrop of California, this Modern Bluff Home is a bold new expression of coastal living — a sculptural, light-filled retreat designed for serenity, privacy, and refined comfort. Developed by HighCo Builders’ and designed in collaboration with the visionary team at ConradAsturi Studios, the home transforms an empty lot in the Bluff Trails development into a striking modern residence, perfectly attuned to the needs and tastes of its community.
The project began with a raw parcel of land and a bold idea: to create a modern home that felt anchored in its environment, celebrated natural light, and offered the kind of thoughtful, elevated design that would speak to the area’s discerning residents. HighCo Builders assembled a world-class team, bringing in structural engineering by Mozzafari Engineering and a full suite of design and development services to see the vision through.
At the heart of the home is its dramatic six-car garage — not just functional, but architectural. Sleek lines, recessed lighting, and high-end finishes turn a utilitarian space into a showroom, worthy of collector-grade vehicles or weekend adventure gear.
From the exterior, the house presents a balance of strength and subtlety. Smooth plaster walls, black-framed windows, and Brazilian hardwood accents bring warmth to the cool minimalism of the structure. Colonnade walls and strategically placed voids invite natural light while maintaining privacy — creating a sense of mystery and intimacy as you move through the home.
Inside, the spaces unfold in quiet drama. A large galley kitchen serves as the central gathering space, featuring built-in premium appliances, flat-panel cabinetry, and integrated lighting that gives it a sculptural quality. The palette is monochrome but layered — matte blacks, soft greys, and rich wood tones working together to create a calm and sophisticated atmosphere.
The bathrooms are a standout — a masterclass in material contrast and modern craftsmanship. Floating vanities with integrated lighting, floor-to-ceiling tilework, and wood slat ceilings add warmth and rhythm. Frameless glass showers, recessed niches, and linear drains elevate the utility of the space into something artful. Each room is designed to feel like a retreat — a balance of natural elements and modern design thinking.
Throughout the home, contemporary detailing reigns supreme:
• Minimalist baseboards and door trims disappear into flush drywall reveals
• Concealed hardware and magnetic latches keep lines clean and uninterrupted
• Built-in shelving and recessed lighting highlight architectural moments
• Floor-to-ceiling windows frame curated views of the bluff and beyond
This Modern Bluff Home is more than a design statement — it’s a complete integration of architecture, engineering, and construction. A bold, enduring residence built for a discerning lifestyle, rooted in its location, and reflective of a forward-looking design ethos.

Modern Renovation
This major renovation project, designed by the acclaimed Conrad Sanchez, was a complete reimagining of a dated residence into a modern luxury estate — balancing natural materials, high-end finishes, and California indoor-outdoor living. HighCo Builders worked closely with the design team to bring new life to the structure, elevating it into a seamless blend of function and refined modernity.
At the center of the home’s transformation are its beautiful white oak floors, thoughtfully selected and expertly laid to bring both warmth and elegance to the modern interior. The tone and grain of the oak set the foundation for the home’s palette — natural, soft, and timeless.
The kitchen is a showpiece of high-end craftsmanship and clean design. Custom flat-panel cabinetry, integrated appliances, and quartzite slab countertops form a gallery-like workspace that feels both sculptural and functional. A large center island anchors the space, perfect for entertaining or day-to-day living, with lighting that casts soft, ambient tones across the entire room.
The primary bathroom rivals that of a luxury resort — expansive, serene, and spa-like. A steam shower, full-height glass enclosures, floating vanities, and radiant heated floors provide the ultimate in comfort. The centerpiece of the suite is a large soaking tub with panoramic views overlooking the entertaining pool and garden — blending wellness with architecture in a way that feels indulgent yet intentional.
Throughout the home, clean lines and modern detailing frame each room. Oversized windows and sliding doors dissolve the barrier between inside and out, allowing light to pour through and connecting the home to its lush surroundings.
This project represents what’s possible when bold design meets skilled execution — a comprehensive renovation that respects the structure’s bones while entirely reimagining its purpose and beauty for modern life.
